WHITECHAPEL

With a running time of approximately 19 minutes, this videotape covers the story of the historic Whitechapel Bell Foundry, and details some of our more famous bells including those of Westminster Abbey, St. Mary-le-Bow, Canterbury Cathedral and, of course, Big Ben, the largest bell ever cast at the foundry. The provision of the original Liberty Bell to the State House in Philadelphia, and the story of the bells of St. Michael's Church, Charleston, which have crossed the Atlantic seven times, illustrate the international historical associations of the business.

The preparing of the moulds, pouring of the metal, and tuning processes involved in the manufacture of both tower bells and handbells, and their associated ringing fittings, are all clearly illustrated.

LIBERTY BELL

With a running time of approximately 30 minutes, this videotape covers the story of the making of a full size Liberty Bell replica at Whitechapel Bell Foundry in 2001, the 250th anniversary of the casting of the original Liberty Bell which was cast in this very same foundry (indeed, the replica was cast within a few feet of where the original would have been cast).

IMPORTANT! These tapes are available in both the PAL and NTSC formats. When ordering copies please be careful to specify which you require. Generally speaking, PAL is the system used in Europe (except France), while NTSC is used in the USA and Japan. If you are uncertain, a websearch should help you establish which format is used by televisions in your part of the world.

Update! The Whitechapel tape is now only available in NTSC format, and the Liberty Bell tape in PAL. Most UK video recorders produced in past few years will play both PAL and NTSC tapes. You need to check What your recorder will play before ordering.
