RINGING AT THE ROYAL NORTHERN On April 1st - 3rd, Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music played host to 'Ring at the Royal Northern', a weekend of handbell ringing events. For Whitechapel Bell Foundry Foundry, the weekend started with the hire van being loaded up with not only all the music, displays, and WBF merchandising for our trade stand, but also all the bells and equipment for the South East Region Bell Orchestra, who were participating in the Saturday evening concert we were sponsoring. Alan Hughes, Martin Winter & Jennifer Hughes drove the fully-laden van up to Manchester on the Friday morning, with Kathryn and Sandra Winter following by car later.
Offloading and setting up so much gear was a long and arduous task but, as can be seen from the photos above, the WBF trade stand looked very effective. (The photos below give a sense of the location of the stand and of the building itself.) Fortunately, business at our stand was brisk and we were pleased with the result. Less pleasing was the hire van breaking down when it was time to pack everything up and bring it back to London - eventually getting back at 2.35 am on Monday morning!!. This aside, all agreed it was a very enjoyable and successful weekend.
