REPORT ON THE 2003 RINGING ROADSHOW.Last weekend, eleven members of the Whitechapel Bell Foundry staff decamped to the 2003 Ringing Roadshow, the industry's biannual trade show. It was held this year at the Lincolnshire Showground, some 4 miles or so outside Lincoln, and we took 12,000 feet of floorspace (see below) to display our wares and the wide variety of services we can offer covering all aspects of bellfounding, bellhanging, frame design, tuning of new and old bells, handbells, handchimes, clock bells, cup bells, ship's bells, door bells, etc. We also did a brisk trade in the range of WBF merchandising we offer.
![]() Something produced specially for this roadshow was a rig (see below) from which were hung four bells (also specially cast for the occasion) demonstrating that we can cast bells to many different profiles. These four represented our new style, old style (cast with canons), Gillett & Johnston, and major third profiles. All were fitted with lever-action clappers and could be rung by those at the roadshow, as they were, frequently and loudly.
