OF MICE AND BELLS
by G. Walton Williams (illustrated by John Kollock)

The bells of St. Michael's Church, Charleston, South Carolina, are possibly the most travelled ring of church bells in the world having crossed the Atlantic no less than seven times as a result of momentous events including the American War of Independence, the American Civil War, and the hurricane of 1989. An illustrated children's book, Of Mice and Bells tells the story of the bells' first removal from Charleston and their subsequent return from the viewpoint of a pair of church mice. It was first published in 1999 by the Friends of Change-Ringing, St. Michael's Church, Charleston.
